try taking off the mounting bracket as well... you might have to drop the drivers side axle. i changed mine in about a half hour on my 90 (i know they're different) by just taking off the mounting bracket.

I've actually done it before on a 86 crx. I can't remember what i did. I'm sure you had to take a bunch of stuff apart to get it out though. Also, you can simply look at it, compare to the one in the car, and see if it looks like the same one.

you have to file down a side of the mounting brackets on the altenator that you purchased. For some reason the company that remanufactures them is a hair off the size. And to drop it in go in the passenger side of the intake manifold and you can pass is right through. Cuz taking the axle out requires a realignment and no one wants to shell out 70 bucks for that.

You do not have to shave anything.....Slightly wedge it between your lines on the passenger side and slide it to the driver side to put it in....I just replaced my alternator on my 91 Hatch and my brothers 88 CRX and his 2 87 Accords

I don't remeber having to remove a motor mount to change the alternator. It's been years ago, so i'm not much help. As far a shaving, i have no idea what they are talking about. I do remeber my stock mount thing broke in half, but i could still use it though.
