167k out of an Intergra, B18A1. It purred like a kitten until I ran it into the back of a Pontiac.

It's past through a couple more owners and is supposedly on the streets again.

I got 125K from the D16 in my CRX, before it gave up the ghost last January. It had been going downhill since I bought it.

I kept thinking the mechanics were scammin me when they told me thats all it could be is a worn engine. I've always maintained it well and its in such good shape that I assumed the other owner had too. So, I don't know why its gone bad early...
A quart every two weeks isn't bad. I go through about that in my '91 CRX Si with about 163K on the clock, but my car doesn't smoke. It passes emissions just fine.

The whole smoking and stopping thing has me wondering. If the engine was really worn out it would smoke all the time. Something is sticking or something.

Yeah, I think I leak more oil than I burn.

If you think it might be something other than my engine then can you suggest what I should have them check or what I should do? I was planning on replacing my engine but its in such great condition otherwise (no leaks anywhere that I know of, runs smooth as butter) that if I can save it that would be great. Thanks for letting me know what you think.
