Yes if you don't want a spring to shoot up your ass!!!

I've heard people not using them and tossing them in the air and letting them just shoot off...but that is hella dangerous.....just spend the extra 10 bucks or whatever and get a spring compressor.

Yes, use one, people who say you don't need one are dumbasses. Harborfreight.com sells one for $6 or something now and that is the one I used and it worked fine.

Default changing springs

Hey, if you want to have your springs changed you should take it to a shop, if you dont have a compressor because your cars wieght will be pushing down on your springs which could fly off and either hurt or kill you.

use your car as the compressor, b4 starting work just pop ur hood and lossen the center bolt thats suronded by the 2 bolts. the main bolt that holds the strut. then just jack up your car and lossen away at whats needed to remove the spring/strut. and their ya go. i didnt need to use a spring compressor for the front of my friends ef hatch nor for the back.

do they shoot out to the ground?? Or do they just drop?

I think I'd still get that $15 insurance policy (compressor)!!!!

They normally just drop, the key is to let the spring open slowly and controlled, and to compress them slowly and controlled. A spring compressor is a very good idea on higher spring rates though, since they can shift directions and shoot out quicker than OEM springs that don't have as much tension, and above all else, only compress the spring as much as you have to to get it mounted, there's a reason it's called a spring "rate."

If you're still unsure, a spring compressor costs less than chest surgery.
