Default B16 swap question

I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of a CRX SiR having a 170hp motor? I know the SiR II does, but I heard that you can find a 170hp motor w/ cable trans for use in a 88-91 Civic/CRX. Any help would be appreciated.

I have not heard any SiR motor having 170,i thought only the b18c had those specs.I don't think any 16 stock is 170.
Have you even tried searching for any info,i did some and this is what i came up with.

B16B 185hp
B16A second Gen 170hp

maybe you should try searching your self.....:fawk:

and to answer the original question, the only way you would get the 170 b16a with cable trans is if the cable trans was put onto the 170 motor. the civic and crx SiR were only offered with the 160hp first gen cable tranny b16a

yeah and it's not even going to make that with your stock exhaust. The SiR had a bigger factory exhaust pipe and cat.

The first generation B16A were rated at 160 PS. (roughly 160 HP)

The second generation B16A were rated at 170 PS. (roughly 170 HP)

Remember though that their octane level is higher than US standards.

the newer Si had 160 also.

B16a's will run just fine with 91 octane.

I run mine on 94 octane without any problems what so ever.....

higher octane doesnt always mean higher horsepower anyway.
