anyone? also it is the 1st gen jdm...it came with a j1 5 speed but also came with a ecu for a auto...just wanting to know if my engine was for the auto or 5 speed. i hope there is a way to tell. I know the cams suck neways...bought new ones, but it is the compression ratio want to have from the 5 speed version B16a.

I don't think there was an auto CRX SiR.
Maybe they sent you the wrong ECU with it.

the motor would not be designed to work with a specific tranny. The ecu is what would be different, definetely need to get one for a manual. I also don't think they made a b16a with an auto, but i'm not sure on that. but anyways, a motor is a motor and is not "designed" to work with a specific tranny.

ACTUALLY the B16 that came with an auto tranny had smaller camshafts and not as much compression ratio :db:

but if he is replacing the cams he could use ones with a higher lift which would also raise compression right? then it wouldn't matter if it originally had and auto or manual tranny
