check and see if your temp. sensor is plugged in it is under your distributer in the block just under the head. if it is unplug it, take the wire and ground it it should make your temp. gauge peg out with the ign. on if it dosen't your gauge is bad.
give me a general picture of what the car is doing through the whole driving range. how long does it take to get hot? I just had problems with mine getting too hot right after i rebuilt it come to find out i had an air pocket in the block and it wouldn't let water in i had to what i call burp the system to get the air out. let me know exackly what is happening and maybe i can help.
Yea it just stays pinned out at hot all the time and never moves it dosent show cold when i start it in the morning or any thing like that it just reads hot all the time even when i turn the car off the gauge dosent move... think it might be a broken gauge? im not sure.
Thnx

Ok first check if your comp. is throwing you a code by pulling up the carpet on the passinger side floor turn the ignition on and look to see if your getting 6 flashes through the window if you are check your fuse it will be in the fuse block under the steering column, I think it is the second fuse from the left I think on the top row. If that is good then start your car take the radiator cap off and see if the coolant in you car is moving if it is then your water pump is working. If you are getting 6 flashes then chances are your sensor is bad since you say it stays pegged all the time, I would think that if the gauge itself is bad then it would never move from cold. I would change the sensor first then if that dosen't work then the gauge, the sensor is about half the price............................................. ..let me know how it goes.

Would you please explain how you "burp the system"? I think I did it accidentally when my 86 was over-heating and I released steam through the top bleeder valve (suddenly sensors seemed to work again and the car ran more smoothly!). I'm having problems getting it to idle at all now after a rebuild. I suspect some sensors (vacuum or temp) may be at fault and perhaps the water is not circulating to them. The fan comes on inappropriately, too (like upon start-up, before it's even begun to warm-up).
Thanks for any suggestions!
Walt
