ok i timed the car i have a b18a1 in my hf crx and i timed the car... actually i tried to time the car to the single line that is on the pulley. you know how there is a clump of 3 lines and then a seperate one i think thats the one i have to time it to so i timed it to that but for some reason i ran out of room to move the dizzy and the line still is a bit far from the place its supposed to be at in fact the line that is in that place is the 14 degrees btc does that mean my cars timing is advanced or retarded? and am i trying to time it to the right line? or not?
You can tell with the timign light. Watch as you adjust the dizzy, and get it as close as you can. If it's advanced at that point, you can assume that, where you actually want it, it's more extreme advance. Get it?

ok you didnt understand my question i dont think but its ok... i do know how to use a timing light i just didnt know where to time it to... i found a haynes a chilon and they both agreed the timing is supposed to be 16btc so im good... thanks anyways though... later
14 degrees btdc is retarded. You can time it by 2 ways.
If you use white mark, you would want to set your timing light to 16 degrees btdc. If you use the red mark, set your timing light to zero. red mark = 16 degrees btdc. White mark = tdc
The red mark is in between the 3 lines. The white mark is the to right of the 3 lines.
