Default What is this called?

Hi gang!
There is a thin peice of metal at the front of the engine (90 Civic HB) that the dipstick passes through on the way to the engine...it is rusted pretty badly and I want to replace it...but I don't even know what it is. I have been told that it is some kind of heat sheild but if that is the case, does it have a 'proper' name?

Thanx for any input...

Magik

Not to be mean for being a noob or anything, but how did you not know that. Well if you are into like not modding your car whatsoever then i could understand, but jeez if you are into racing at all then you "should" know that it's the heat sheild that covers the header. I don't usually flame or am this dick but that just kinda makes me laugh. Sorry

4Gen4DoorAccord,

Sorry, but I am not a racer, this is a daily driver....and I do not know what EVERY piece of metal, rubber, plastic, glass, screw, bolt, nut, gidget, widget, and thingy is called on my car.

Hell, some of these parts have names that make absolutely no sense, but that's their name anyway.
I knew someone would slam me for not knowing the name of this thing, guess you were the lucky one, but I still had to ask or go on continuing not to know...so in other words...laugh away...but now I know...

Thanx: 1stGenCRXer
(If I have any more 'dumb' question's I'll ask you)

it shields heat, you be the judge. if you think that shield looks ugly, remove and take a look at the manifold.

LOL, I have to agree with this. Cast iron manifolds are ugly, and blast heat up into the engine bay, if you want to change the look inside, go with a header

Default Suggestions...

Any suggestions as to where to get a header for my car
(1.5L 4-speed manual) and what a reasonable cost on one would be? Oh, and benefits of, and which one 4-2-1 etc...
That's the biggest problem I have with my 90 Civic, can't find parts...a 92+ Civic...noooo prob...anything under that the person your asking looks at you like you have two heads.
