distributor replacement (need part number)
I need a little bit of help, finding the part number for my distributor. They (auto parts store) say there are 2 different types for my car. It's a 1989 Civic stationwagon, 1.5L, 5 sp and non 4wd or awd (whatever was offered). The parts numbers they have at the parts store are 1: TD02U or 2: TD01U. I called my local Honda dealer and had them see if they could tell me from the vin #. They said the only thing that came up was TEC. Whatever that is/means. I just need to know where I can find the number. Do I need to take the cap off? or the entire distributor? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Actually the part CODE is usually stamped on one of the ears. Unless you have a 1.6 Si (D16a6) engine the distributor will NOT be a TD-02U. Take a look on the Distributor King website-they can guide you to the right unit at a very good price.
BTW: there are several distributors listed and I too had to be absolutely sure about it at the the parts store. NAPA and Advance actually have the correct listings when you check the Beck-Arnley catalog.
