Default Ignition rotor problems 89 civic

The ignition rotor on my 1989 Civic wagon keeps getting loose, I have tried blue loctite and it still comes loose. The screw tightens up all the way and does not appear to be stripped. The rotor is a Beck Arnely from Napa and has about 30k on it should I buy another and see if it does the something? I also noticed the metal insert in the rotor fell out when I took it out the other day. Is this a common problem. I noticed the tach jumps around a bit also. Maybe the ignitor is going to die also

I had the same problem with the tach jumping around in my old '87, I never did figure out what it was.

If your rotor is falling apart, get a new one. See if you still have the same problem with it coming loose on the new one (hell, rotors are only like $4, it's worth a try.)

My tach jumps too. There should be three connectors on the ignitor. 1 or more of those are loose. That will help the tach jump.

Pick up a new rotor from your local dealer.

Get the OEM Honda cap/rotor, comes in a set for $20. It has a new screw that should fit in just right. The new screws come with a loctite like substance on them but add a dab of loctite on them just incase. I had a rotor come off on my DX engine, bad times.
