you will also need a mount kit - the ZC would be much less hassle for about half the price - don't sell the ZC short - if you mean B18A when you say B18, the ZC in stock form will run better than the stock B18A due to the difference in weight

but being spanked by an 89 4 door with a b18 would just be embarrasing. i say go with a gsr motor.you will beat any zc motor all day long.

I'm going to ask a pertinent question that no one else has. What are your goals for the vehical?

The ZC will feel alot like the stock engine, aside from more top-end pull, perhaps a tad more low-end. Any of the 1.8L B-series engines you will notice a marked difference in the drivability of the car. 1.8L torque(funny I know), makes driving around town alot more enjoyable. With any 1.6L {even a b16, and especially in a 4-door} you'll feel like you're having to beat to piss out of it to get up to driving speed. The b-series swap isn't that hard to get done(even if you have to do a MPFI conversion). Feel free to ask any questions, i'll answer them the best I can.

thats exactly my point... i want more torque... 1.8 will pull harder than any 1.6 just because of the longer stroke. the GSR is just way too expensive for the car, and the vtec will only help the top end, the car just needs more torque... i think maybe a budget turbo... i want about 150 ft/lbs torque, and with a small turbo i should have boost all the way up to 6500.

anyways, it comes down to your budget. if you can afford to go with a b18, and get tranny, ecu, harness, linkage and mounts as well, then go for it. the zc is a great budget swap. you can feel the difference. that other guy says it feels the same because he's comparing it to his turbo b18 rex

ZC's are nice but with the extra weight of the 4-door it wont keep up with hatchbacks, the b18 is my solution to this. in the end swapping to the ZC requires diff tranny, clutch, axles, ecu, and wiring.... the only added thing with the b18 are the motor mounts. so pricewise the ZC swap and b18 swap are not far off... maybe $500 which in the end is worth the +20ft/lbs of torque

Uh... the ZC is a D-series type engine, and a B18 will DEFINATELY require a new transmission, axles, wiring, ecu, etc...
