like the title says. i just picked up an '85 crx si today and it seems as though the front shocks are blown. since i figure honda parts arent going to be much cheaper than aftermarket, ill go aftermarket. preferably i would like to get non-adjustables too since they will allow me to remain in G stock in autocross. heres the list at www.shox.com:

-to sumarize the list, theres really only 3 choices short of the adjustables. basically the KYBs for $174, Tokicos for $279, and Konis for $506

any of you guys have experience in this area? keep in mind im going to maintain my stock springs and torsion bars. what should i get here? cost is a big concern for me but im willing to pay more for a better product.

 

You can run any shocks in stock classes at least in scca not just non-adjustable shocks. Koni yellows are your best bet but they're expensive.

 

I had intended to go with Koni yellows on (formerly) my '87. If they are legal for that autocross class, I have no idea. If they are, the lower model Konis are still some good units.

 

will those konis work okay with stock springs? i always thought you had to have aftermarket springs to work with aftermarket shocks, but i dont know....

 

You can run adjustable dampers in SCCA solo2 stock classes as long as you don't change the mounting points and such.

The Konis will work totally fine with your stock springs so no worries there.
