Default MPFI: How much hp will be gained?

Ok my friend is putting a D15B7 in his crx b/c thats all he can afford right now but hes gonna swap it over to MPFI and he wants to know how much HP he will gain when he does that?

this depends on what model and what year crx your friend has as power ranged for the 88-91 crx from 62hp - 108hp...the d15b7 is not powerhouse but will be an improvement over the dx is what i'm assuming you have as you mentioned you need to swap over to mpfi and the dx crx (92 hp) is the only 2g that did not have mpfi

so expect a 10hp increase max but improvement across the whole rev band

The D15B7 is basically the stock 4G DX engine plus a MPFI system, so there really isn't a good reason to swap unless his engine is near dead.

If he used his stock DPFI system on the new engine, it would perform exactly the same as the original.

mpfi will give them more power over the dpfi system (though i agree that the engine is basically the same) and get them ready for a more serious swap that would require mpfi anyway

yea for a dpfi system an mpfi conversion is one of the best mods around...will give you more power than adding i/h/e...plus it will already be wired in if you decide to do anything else

Hey thanks guys!

The motor got put in yesterday and the MPFI will be done here soon too. He already has a exhaust and soon to be putting a header and intake on so we'll see how it works out!

You guys were lots of help!
