Default hood stuck

my hood takes 2 people to open one to pull the lever and one
to bang the hood until it kick up.i looked through my haynes manuel and it didnt say much of anything.the lock had a lot of dirt in it,so i sprayed it down with wd-40 and scraped it out.but its still not tight enough to open the latch with only one person.

Once in a while my latch gets sort of stuck and I have to press down on the hood right over the latch and than pop it and it will work. Not really sure why that is. I figure maybe after so many years that cable has stretched a bit or something.

Mine does the same thing... the little spring on the hood gets crud in it and doesn't want to release... i just clean it out every now and then and it starts behaving.

wd40 works, but that's a temporary fix. It's the type of lubricant that attracts dirt and grime. Try using triflow, or another non-oil bases product. Get it cleaner out using something like simple green, to get all the crud off, and loosened up, then hit it with the tri flow once it's dry.

If you put some good grease on that latch it would be way better than WD40.
