Default b18a1

i have a b18a1 in my 91 dx, and it keeps throwing a code 1. sometimes i can drive an hour and it wont throw it, then other times it only takes 5 mins of driving. i know its for the oxygen sensor, and i replaced it with a good one, reset the ecu, and it still pops up. well anyways, i used a o2 sensor from another dx civic, and it fit perfectly in where the old one went, looked exactly the same too. any ideas?

im questiong if the header i have is for the ls motor...does the teg header have two holes on the bottom of it, or just 1?

how many wires does the o2 sensor supposed to have on an ls, cauuse i believe the one i put on (dx one) had 1...

is there a second o2 sensor thats supposed to be on my car. i looked on the cat, and i didnt see one, but i think the teg had one there, is there a way to bypass that, or coudl that be causeing my cel to come on because its not there?

oh how do i know if i have a obd-0 or obd-1 motor?? its a pr4 if that helps.

which ecu do you have? a 90-93 ls/gs teg ecu or a 94+ teg rs/ls/gs ecu?...the former can be obd0 or obd1 (90-91 were obd0 and 92-93 were obd1) and the latter is obd2

was this ecu from the same car as the engine was from?

I'd try using an o2 sensor from a teg, not a dx. Not sure though. b18a1 should only have 1 o2 sensor. on the 90-91 it was on the header, the 92-93 was just before the cat. That's just where they put it stock though, it doesn't matter where you put it if you get an aftermarket header as long as it's one or the other. You do not need two though. Unless for some crazy reason you converted your car to obd1-2 which i know nothing about.

It's probably just a short in the wiring. You should replace it with a new Integra sensor, anyway. Don't bother installing used O2's.

An o2 is an o2. If it's a single wire, it'll work. There is definitely another issue going on with a wire grounding out somewhere, or you are just running WAY rich, so it's gunking \it up real fast. What octane are you running?

well, it seems my car is running better. the old o2 sensor was all white and crusty, the newer dx one looked better. the check engine light has only come on once this weekend, as opposed to right after i drive with the crusty sensor, so im wondering whats goin on. no im no running rich, i run shitty octane like..89 haahha. but it hastn come on saturday or sunday, so idunno. the guy i got the car said ti was obd-1, anyway i can check, he said it was a 93, but he lied about alot of stuff on the car, so i dunno if i believe him. anyways, is an obd-1 car have two o2 sensors??? if so what do i do, i only have one.

OBD-1 cars only have one.

A B18A1 will run just fine (actually best) on 87 octane regular.
