Default D15B1 vs. D15B1

Hey guys...

I have a good B1 in my smashed STD that is one of the best engines I've ever seen...and a "dying" B2 in my Si that I am driving...I'm contemplating pulling the B2 out of the Si and putting the B1 in...leaving the Si distributor and the Si MPFI...I only have $1000.00 to work with, and pulling an engine is wayyyy beyond me...so buying another engine is outta reach...

I guess what I am asking, is what am I really sacrificing here?

I've been told that a d15 with the Si distributor and the Si MPFI can actually end up making more HP than the stock A6...is there any truth to that?

No.

Why exactly does your Si not have a D16A6?

If you swap the heads, you'll be fine. The only issue you'd run into would be needing a new head gasket, and new head bolts would be nice.

The si does not have the A6 because it was swapped before I bought it...I only bought this car as a parts car...for my STD...for $325...then some a$$hole in a Dodge Ram cut me off at 50km/hr and killed my STD...thus throwing the 'parts car' into service rather rapidly. Insurance only gave me $1K and my STD so I don't have much to work with...I'm trying to maximize my outcome and minimize the amount of the 1K that I have to spend...
Plus the Si is my daily driver...I'm trying to do what I can to fix this as quickly as possible...my car can't sit idle for days...it has to be driveable...
