break in time??

Default break in time??

ok my cars going in tomorrow to get a new head gasket.. when i get it back im gonna go ahead and do an oil change.. but what i was wondering was, do i need to break in the new head gasket? or am i good to go as soon as its complete?

I've never heard of breaking in gaskets. You might want to go a little easy on it for a while to make sure there is nothing wrong but other than that I don't think anything special has to be done.

just be careful for the 1st 100 miles...i usually do that with any major repair...for an engine rebuild i usually wait 500 miles before wringing it out

If you use the old headbolts then retorque them after 100 miles. Was the head resurfaced? Watch for oil or coolant loss.

no the head is not getting re surfaced. just simlpy getting the gasket replaced
