Default Head Removal

Does anyone know how to take the head off a 91 civic 1.5L engine? I've got the intake and exhaust manifolds removed as well as the head bolts. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

Find a way to *very gently* pry it up, they tend to get pretty stuck on there after being on for years.

The timing belt is off... right?

gently pry, and as mentioned, an engine hoist can deffinately help.

Yeah, I remember my dx being a biatch to get apart. Just gotta use a lot of elbow grease!

soft blow mallet to the top a few times to loosen it up always tends to do the trick for me, years of crusty head gasket material are gonna be holding it all together. good luck with whatever ur doing.

crxb16er, you are absolutely right. For the life of me I coudln't remember what we used, but a rubber mallet was it.

If you would've taken just the headbolts off, you could just start the engine and it should pop off












Actually just use a rubber mallet.
