My friend owns a 1992 Acura Vigor...it used to run perfect until recently. Occasionally, more often than not, when he pushes the accelerator from a dead stop, theres no response. It's like theres a lag, it takes a few seconds for the engine to come to life and rev up to get goin. Needless to say this is dangerous at stoplights and pisses people off behind him.. It's not the throttle body or cable, the TB does open up, we put the car up on a lift and checked, the damn thing was at WOT and no engine life. Just sits there at idle for a few seconds and then roars up. I'm thinkin its a feul problem. Not injectors, it doesnt make sense. Maybe the fuel pump or a clog in the tank/filter/lines? Although we changed the feul filter so its not that...Sometimes it works normal, most of the time it doesnt..i'd really appreciate some help so i can fix whatever the hell is wrong. Maybe some pointers on what to check out and what not. Thank ppls!

EDIT: We also changed out the TB/TPS thinking it was that, and no change. I think its something mechanical, he thinks its an electrical thing

 

I have a 94 Vigor that seems to not respond to the gas pedal when starting from a full stop. I have had the car checked, all regular maintenance but cannot figure out what is wrong. If you ever determine the problem - be sure to post it, I would love to know how you fixed it.

 

When you push down on the accelerator, can you hear the engine rev up or nothing happens at all?

 

Nothing happens at all.

 

Have you changed the cap/rotor and spark plugs and wires recently?
