CL Rattles
I have a great black on black 01 CL Type S. Only 18k on the clock, too. The bummer is a lot of rattles coming from here and there inside. There are 2 inside the dash, behind the stereo and glove box. A couple more in the moonroof - even had the dealer install new sealing tape around the opening. And more in the doors. The dealer also fixed a rattle in the rear deck. I removed all items from storage compartments and the rattles are still there.
Am I nuts or has anyone else experienced this? This is my first Acura and I expected a bit more of a solid car. Hopefully, this is something isolated. Maybe even the lousy roads we have in Chicago...

No rattles in mine. I've had my TL for 4 years now.

My CL has the same rattles. Two in the dash: a minor one behind the stereo and a more prominent one on the far right behind the glovebox. And one in the sunroof. The sunroof rattle was there from day one. The other rattles developed at about 30K miles. And I've heard only a couple of other similar stories with the CL's. I've also noticed that most earlier model Acura's I've seen do have higher quality interior materials. While the materials in the current CL are still of good quality, the difference shows (not to mention that it was assembled here in the States vs. in Japan).
So you are not nuts. The rattle even occur on the fairly decent streets in Houston. And it still is a solid car. I don't think these rattles are indicative of any future problems such as a leaky sunroof.
The only other quality issue I have noticed on the CL is the transmission. I recommend changing the tranny fluid more often than is stated in the service schedule. This will at least help prolong your trannys life by flushing out any shavings coming off the potentially faulty bearing. Hope this helps...

The closed moonroof (with shade open) is the most annoying rattle in the car. It is so bad that I can't keep the shade open when the moonroof is closed! Too bad, because I have otherwise been happy with my '01 CL-S. I will be giving it back (lease) this Sept and most likely buying an Accord EX cpe.
From what I understand from the dealer, the moonroof rattle is common on the 01-02 models. Nothing really the deal can do.
Oh well.
Cheers!
