Default 2000 TL Idling Problems

Hello everyone.

I have a 2000 TL that has been sitting for about 4-5 months since I was on vacation in Hawaii. When I got back, I started the car and the idle seems to go up and down continuously.

Does anyone know what it may be??

Thanks.

Ray

I think it could be because you haven't driven the car in 4 to 5 months. Change all the fluids and run some gas cleaner/fuel injector cleaner and drive a few hundred miles to see if it will improve.

Default Sitting too long?

Definitely from sitting too long.

Has the MIL (check engine) lamp come on yet? If so that would pinpoint the problem.

If not start by cleaning the throttle body and iAC (Idle air controller). Dirt can build up and make them sticky so the engine controls can't keep the idle smooth.

Lastly your EGR system (intake manifold and EGR valve) may need cleaning.

Default Idle control dirty...

Yep, i second that. I had the same problem. Intake system dirty. Just clean out the idle control valve and she'll fine.
