Hi all, i've got door lock problems on drivers side door of a 99 CL (3.0).

it works, but any time the lock button is pushed (key fob, lock lever, or silver lock button) there is a loud grinding sound. it sounds like gears stripping.

is the actuator that performs the locking a motor or a solenoid or any idea what?

i guess it doesn't matter what it actually is, i guess it just needs to be replaced. i had a little time over the weekend and removed the door panel and could only get some basic looks at it.

does the locking mechanism come off with the actual latch and can it be done without removing the window (hopefully it can be done with the window just rolled all the way up)?


any insight, tips or ideas anyone can add would be appreciated....
