Default 2007 TL Transmission Problem

I have a new 2006 TL that on four ocassions starts a serious vibration - I mean it scares you-on acceleration. It has happened 4 times, always first run of the day and during moderate to severe acceleration. It feels like your are on an extremely rough road and the vibration is a steady rythum.

It has scared my wife so bad she won't drive the car and wants her toyota back.
The dealer says unless he can get it to act up he can't determine what is wrong and this only has happened 4 times in 5000 miles. Any suggestions? My thoughts are it is something funny going on in the torque convertor.

Are you sure it is not an engine missfire? A cylinder going dead during full throttle acceleration creates quite a vibration. Is the engine fully warmed up before it gets floored?

you're probably giving it too much gas out of the gate and spinning the tires to the point where you're getting wheel hop-- thats the only thing i can think of that feels like what you're discribing.

:edit:

yeah, and now that i think about it with the tires they put on these things this could be what you're feeling... otherwise it might be a broken engine mount, which i don't see happening here because it only happens every once and a while.

your wife just may be taking it a little too hard on the gas

Default 2007 TL Tramsmission Problem

Thanks for the replys.
It is not a misfire the engine continue to run smooth and is fully warmed up
It is not front wheel slip acceleration is not that great and I was watching for that the second time

It is like the torque converter is surging or something like that.

it could be somethign wrong with the locking mechanism in the torque converter, i'm not sure how it works-- but it might be something to bring up
