One of my low beam headlamps just flickers but does not fully light up. Does this mean that the bulb should be replaced or is it another problem? The manual discourages owner replacement of low beam lamps because of a possible electrical discharge. Is there a way to replace the lamp myself without getting shocked?

It could be the bulb or it could be the ignitor. Just disconnect the battery so you won't get zapped.

 

Thank you for the information. I was able to replace the bulb but that does not seem to solve the problem. The bulb flickers. When I try the high beam only the left one lights up. Both of the high beam bulbs are good and both of the low beam lights are good. Could the igniter be the problem? If so is it user replaceable?

 

I believe the ignitor is a plug and play module, so it shouldn't be that difficult to replace.
