Default 99 TL Brakes Shuttering.

Hey TL Gurus,
My wife's TL brakes are shuttering pretty bad (feel it on the steering wheel pretty bad). I turned the rotors and replaced front pads and it was good for awhile now it's back! Rotors thickness were within limits (little on the thin side though). She doesn't race or ride the brakes so overheating shouldn't be a issue. I was doing some part reserch on the web and stated something about Anti Rattling Springs. Does this play any role? Didn't noticed any special springs during the brake job. Is it possible one of the suspension parts are causing this? Any pointers? Thanks,

It's possible that you could be getting some action from the suspension components but not likely. Did you turn the rotors on or off of the car?

Turned it off the car. The pass side was making lot of noise on the laith. I guess it was warpped pretty good. I'll bet it's warpped again. It was right at the limit. Just ordered EBC rotors and green stuff pads from AutoPartsWherehouse.com.

Everything else seems pretty tight. No bump steer, wondering off center, etc.

The brakes on that car suck. They warp because the car is under braked from the factory . So when they warp in lets say 30k miles the first time now the rotor has less material from the cut they will warp in 15k get my drift so the rotors need to be replaced . I would recomend power slot rotors that should fix the problem and be cheaper than the factory garbage

Hey TSM,
That makes sense! I was hoping the PBR rotors and green stuff pads I ordered yesterday will fix the problem. Thanks,

when you change pads make sure you use silocone grease on the pad shims. and make sure you use brakeleen on the orots so no dust gets on them.

Thanks for heads-up fast99tl. So many people don't do these basic steps! I've seen people throw away little tube of grease and put new pads on greasy rotors...

I think you want to go with a moly-based grease instead of a silicone grease on those pads and shims.
