Default 1999 3.2 TL engine idling up and down

My girlfriend has a 1999 Acura 3.2 TL that wasn't run for about a month or so. Last week, when she started it up, it began idling up and down between 1000-2000 RPM. I checked this forum and it seems it could be one of these things:

1. Low coolant levels
2. Vacuum leak
3. Clogged IACV
4. Bad FITV

I brought it to the local garage and it was diagnosed as having a bad idle air control motor. Is this the same as the IACV? Or something different?

clean the EGR, do some seafoam and then change the plugs.

I think it is the same thing, just substitute the word Valve for Motor.

I would go with the first suggestions before I clean out the EGR.

The problem is that seafoam doesn't do a damn thing for the EGR ports, since it's taking exhaust gas loaded with carbon back into the intake manifold. There's no way to clean it without opening it up

I use seafoam every 30k miles (every time I change my NGK V's) and this is what mine looked like when I performed the surgery: https://www.honda-acura.net/forums/s...GR+clean+J30A1

Yikes.

get carb cleaner and clean the egr passages and take the valve cover of and clean the clooged carbon areas and change the gaskets on trottle body and egr because eventually your check engine light will come on for egr issues.

It just doesn't sound like the car has an EGR problem for that symptom. That's why I suggested a look at the first suggestions.

I agree but the EGR can also affect it. It did on my car. It certainly doesn't hurt to clean it
