Default 1997 3.2 Tl

I am hearing a scraping noise when I crank my car. It doesnt happen all of the time, but if not on ignition, the I will hear it again when I reach 10-20 mpr. then it stops. Does anyone have any ideas? My car is a 1997 3.2TL-it has 145,000. Also, is there any maintenance or repair that I should anticipate? Does anyone know how long this car will run on average?
Thanks-single mom trying to prepare.

Scraping noise or a screeching noise? It sounds like belts issue to me.

Kind of a vague description, but I'd say it's a serpentine belt. As far as longevity, as long as you keep up on maintenance, that engine should give you 250,000+ miles without a problem.

very poor description, but it seems to me like inside pipe of an exhaust pipe is shaking. Lift the car and screw some screws into the pipe in a area you hear the noise.

alyson benjamin honestly it is very hard to diagnose your situation with out having the car here but if you can be more specific......where is the noise coming from ? scraping? on what? metal or a grinding noise? what side is it coming from? front? rear? left or right ? you see the more specific you are the narrower the possibilities become..... also was the weather cold or hot? when does it do it the most? in the morning or after you have driven it alot? maybe answering these questions can help the rest of us diagnose your problem better.......as for the longevity of the vehicle.....it all depends on the care you give it. i have seen a 2003 mercedes s600 kick the bucket cause the guy ran it with no oil. but hey my 1996 acura 3.2tl just hit 110.00 miles and it is barely getiing broken in. as with any vehicle spend money on maintenance and you won't shit out grands to fix the thing. timing belt every 60k trans fluid and filter every 30k engine oil (in texas) every 3500 miles and so on..... but either way let us know what the deal is with the noise okay?
