Purchased a new TL in April this year. It is one of my wife's daily drivers and is our trip car. So far we have put about 6500 miles on it. We record every bit of fuel and the corresponding distance every time we fill it. Overall, we are getting 28.3 miles per gallon. On interstates (no stop and go whatsoever) we get about 34 mpg driving 68-71 mph. The mpg figures cited above are actual calculations and do not come from the onboard computer which is a little flattering when it comes to fuel mileage. Our local driving is a mix of limited access highways and stop and go town driving. Needless to say, we are happy with the fuel mileage we are getting.

We use 93 octane fuel in it, and I keep tires about 2 psi over what is recommended.

 

That's interesting to know. My wife's '05 TL auto on long daily runs to work (40 miles one way with little stop and go traffic) averages around 26miles. Her average speed is 80mph. That's appears to be the normal speed on I280 in the bay area by the way.

A sister in law of mine also purchased a 2005 TL. She lives in Dallas and is getting 22 overall. She admits she either hard on the accelerator or hard on the brake.
