Default 97 2.5TL Exhaust Noise

On startup and idle, I detect a sound from the exhaust manifold area that sounds like an exhaust leak. I've looked and felt (cold engine) for a leak w/o success. I removed the upper heat shield and inspected w/ a mirror for cracks and found nothing.

I'm wondering if maybe this sound is "typical" for the 2.5. It seems a little noisy for a luxury car. Anyone else note this exhaust sound on a 2.5L engine?

I recently purchased the car and don't have much experience w/ it yet.

Thanks

If there is a leak, you will eventually see it because the leak area will probably be darker, unless your engine is filthy dirty and can't tell. Sometimes, it could be just a worn exhaust manifold gasket.

Hello, first time here.....

I just pulled my exhaust manifold. (mine has the same sound) Found a crack in the middle pipe by the collector. Acura wants $1,000.00 and change for a new one. Going to see if I can get it welded.

If your car is a '96 or '97 with less than 150k miles Acura will warranty it.

Put it back together and make an appointment with your dealer.
just tell them that the engine has an exhaust leak , and they shouldn't give you any problems.
If you give me your VIN I will check to make shure it is covered.
