Default 92 vigor engine light

I have an 1992 acura vigor. When the engine light comes on, i cannot rev passed 3000rpm and the engine hesistate as if the rev limiter is kicking in. The first time i saw the engine light come on i sent my car to a mechanic and he replaced Distribution sub assembly, wires to spark plugs, oxygen sensor and fuel filter. After a week or so the engine light came on but this time it was intermittent. If i shut off the engine and start it up again the engine light dissappears and everything is back to normal. I called the mechanic and he couldnt see what problem it could be. I hope i can fine some answers here.

Thanks

I know you havent gotten a reply on what could be the problem, but I am hoping that you have found out by some other means. I am having the exact same problem with my 92 vigor. Please let me know if you have found the problem. If you havent, and I happen to find out soon I will let you know.
Thanks.

Maybe this will help. It is a troubleshooting chart from my Vigor service manual. Part one will be posted at the Vigor site shortly.

Yes, I have been copying and scanning one to .pdf, but it is too big to post, but I can email it to you in parts. I got it for $20 bucks from a guy who over heard me at the auto parts store and said he put over 200 K on his Vigor.

I would imagine so. The computer should be able to detect the problems all over again, usually just by turning the key enough to get the fuel pump to come on. Working on the service manual, just emailed you the first section.

i recently had the alternator replaced and so far haven't had an engine light. apparently the alternator was giving our surges that causes the problem. Thanks a bunch josh134.
