Default The 20004 Tl

Im comparing the 2004 Acura TL to some other cars. and it says that the TL has a single over head cam. is this true?

I just went to the acura website. and it is true. the TL does use a SOHC. do u kno why they would do this over a DOHC? wasnt the 2001-20003 DOHC?

well since its a V 6 there is one came on either side of the V

One cam works on the I/E side and the other cam does the same for the other 3 cylinders.
all in all there is one cam per 3 cyl.

Accords, TLs, CLs, Pilots, MDXs, etc. are all SOHC (2 cams, one per side). The only DOHC (4 cams, 2 per side) Honda V6 is in the NSX.

DOHC's can generally handle higher revolutions better because they're closer to the valves.

They also tend to be noiser in operation, which you don't want for a luxury-isque vehicle.
