Default Audio System Info

My friend said that he can hook me up with 2 10" subs 400 wats for about $15. That said I think I would need an amp and new deck for my 97 stock audio accord. He said he got a 1200 watt amp off ebay for about 60 but I havent heard of his brand, do brands matter much in quality of amps, subs? how many watts for the deck and amp would i need for those subs and some 6 x 9's?

What subs are they? For the most part, you get what you pay for. Although Power Acoustik suprised me. They are a lower end manufacturer of car audio and their stuff is very affordable, I had a Gothic series 460 watt amp in my ef sedan once upon a time and that thing made my Kenwood Dual Mags scream. Definitely worth the $120 I paid for it:thumbup:

vrgncd5 is right. you get what you pay for but there are certain brands that cost very little but perform very well. but a 1200 watt amp for 60 dollars is too good to be true. you will probably get closer to half that power RMS.

rms is the power an amp can put out for an extended time. It is also the only power rating that really matters. Amps will say like 800 watts peak 400 rms. rms is what matters. youll get 400 watts. Usally like sony amps and cheap stuff have their peak ratings on them, not their true rms ratings. That amp i bet you don't even get half that power. Personally save your money and don't buy that amp. I agree buy cheap buy twice unless maybe ebay used.
