Default Pioneer CD deck installation

I have a '98 Civic EX sedan, and might be getting a Pioneer DEH 6400 deck. Do I require another Harness for the new deck or can I use the factory harness..

And could I attach the OEM tape deck that's already in the car to the new deck and play tapes if needed?

Yes, you'll need an aftermarket harness that plugs into the car's wire plug. Then you splice and connect the wires from the Pioneer deck to the wires on the harness you bought. Go to Walmart and pick one up for $10 or less...

You'll also need a dash kit. Walmart should have that also. If they don't, see the auto parts manager and order whatever you need. They are direct seller's of Scoche products.

As for the oem add-on tape player. that cannot work with the new deck. Sorry....

One other thing to keep in mind...if your Canadian Honda comes with keyless entry, then you need to do some additional work, so go here for the details:

That doc will show you how to remove the factory head and take care of the keyless problem if it arises....

When I get the aftermarket harness it will just be a straight plug from Pioneer deck wire to into my factory harness?

the aftermarket harness goes between the car and the pioneer harness. You will need to solder them or use some solderless crimp terminals
