Default RPM gauge is jumping all over the place!

Hi,

I have had this problem off and on for 2 years or so, but lately it is getting worse. When I start up my car the RPM gauge is fine but then after a few minutes it will start jumping all over the place. It will never go over the proper RPM reading but it will fall then jump back up to proper reading dancing all over the place. Then after a while it will just fall to 0 and stay there. Does anyone know what could be causing this? Honda says replace all the gauges or something for a ridiculous price...

Any Ideas??

Thanks

CHECK COOLANT. Low coolant / air bubbles in coolant. Coolant leak causes that

I had the same problem for a few months with my 96 Civic. I went to the dealership and they told me it was some kind of vaccum leak. They said just to check all the tubes to see if anything is loose or leaking. However I found my problem to be a crack in the brake vaccum thingy and luckily fixed it by just patching it. I don't know if that helps, but just lettin ya know what I was told for the similar problem. Good luck man
