No 5th gen accord except the 97SE came with a "Factory" Alarm... it was a dealer option... so thats why you have shock sensor. Because the dealer installed the alarm.

Back. Theres a wire from the shock sensor that leads to the brain. Its all just a plug and wire so you can unhook the wire. I guess its an option to have for the system. Now I gotta go work on my alarm system because I just found out how easy it is to bypass it. :nervous: :rick:

*edit.. i bought the car used so i guess the owner who had it before me had the alarm added on by the dealer :rick:

I mean an alarm is an alarm right, if a theif wants your car or wants your system they will get it. The sensors are only $5.00 at most and I believe its a worth while DIY mod. I dont want to cough up $150.00-$400.00 for an alarm system. Ie: viper, clifford I know that one of Cliffords model is able to still work even tho your battery is disconnected and almost all have engine kill (fuel cut off).
edited...* unless you got one of those Pager alarms where it tells when your alarm is tripped.:naughty:

Here's the break down, the shock sensor you have has the basic wires, red for pos, blk for ground, and the other 2 wires are probably negative trip wires. You'll have to get the wire diagram of the factory alarm and find out where the brain to the alarm is at. Then figure out which wire is the Negative trip wire. Most of the newer alarms have dual zone shock sensors which allow your alarm to chirp if the 1st zone is tripped and then the 2nd one will go off if somebody is beating on a window or something to that effect. You'll have to have the wire diagram for the original Factory alarm so you'll know what wire your looking for coming out of alarm brain. You cannot and I wouldn't suggest trying to guess, there are to many wires and most factory alarms are just like the aftermarket, they are mass produced and have both negative and positive triggers for all different makes and models. If you get the wire diagram you'l have to hook the sensor up then tap the sensor to figure out which wire is for the 1st stage and which is for the 2nd stage you should cross them and if you do it's no big deal the alarm will sound off when tapped lightly instead of chirp a few times. The sensor you have looks like an aftermarket sensor and you can clip the harness off the end and tap into your alarm. I hope this helps you and I didn't confuse you any. If you need any other help let me know.

PS. Alot of new cars come with keyless entry and people get them mistaken for car alarms. The factory will upgrade your keyless entry to a full blown alarm but the price and cost of installation of all these high $$$$$ parts is more then you'll pay to have a better named aftermarket alarm put into your car. Hell you can go with a remote start with a paging remote so you'll know your car is getting broken into cheaper then the factory upgrades. I have a Code Alarm with this feature and it's the shit to have........ and if you cannot find a Code Alarm or carbine with these features let me know I'll sell you one for less then what most places would you'll just have to install it yourself or have it installed by a pro...

last thing I forgot to add to my reply, if your alarm goes off when the door trunk or hood is opened you have a negative trigger, that is the same trigger you'll need for your sensor to be tied into. what this does is when the line has 12 volts going to it and will not trip until it is grounded. Which is how the alarm triggers itself and starts to sound off. The door pins, hood pin and trunk work off the same way when the pin is fully extended out it makes contact with the 12 volts and triggers the alarm. I don't know if you can tie iinto that same Negative trigger that u use for your doors and hood but just thought I'd pass on the info for you.....

I'm pretty sure you can buy horns with a back up battery, so when your main battery is disconnected, a horn will still be going off. You don't need to get a packaged alarm just to have that feature.

Hey,

I just bought an 00 accord coupe and i have keyless entry. I have a control with the word "silencer". I wold think it would have said honda, is this an aftermarket control? Or a replacement of the original honda one? Or is the entire keyless entry system aftermarket?

Thanx!

Dave
