this is true, components are way better than coaxial speakers aka 2 or 3 ways.

i sorta wouldn't mind some component speakers, but the quality is just so much better i found it...unpleasant at first. couldnt tell you why, but if i ever get my lazy ass some money i think theyll find a place in my hatch

components are better because you dont have ears in your leg. do you?

thats weird, I never heard anyone say the quality was so much better it was unpleasant at first. I guess there's a first for everything.

No, it really can be unpleasant.

I've got Boston Acoustics Pro 6.5 components in the front of my teg. The high range is SO bright that it hurts. the crossovers have jumpers for -2db & -4db attenuation, and I'm using -2 right now.

Unless you've got some bass to back you up, the high range can be obnoxious. Especially with 100 watts pushing them.

Tuned properly in a complete system, it's night & day. Components are worth the money.

I'm going to trade my 2 ways for the Boston 6.53s for the added midbass response.

Yeap, I just got my kappa components put in and it is very bright. Too bad there's no setting on the crossover to lower the output on the tweeters.

Have you noticed a pattern here? The "unpleasant" feeling is caused by incorrect tuning. If you had an external crossover that was adjustable, you could tune them so they wouldn't be so bright. It makes all the difference in the world.
