Default Negative effects of low-voltage to the car?

I was thinking about this today... I know I need a capacitor for my new system. I've got a 2000 Integra Type R, if anyone didn't know.

I've got a Kicker 550.3 running a set of JL XR 6.5" Components & a JL 10W6v2 with 4 ga. wire. The birth certificate of the amp says it's running 750 watts, so I'm going to be buying a 1 farad cap. Problem is, I'm broke right now. Other than my lights dimming, does this affect the car negatively?

I was thinking gas milage might drop, performance would drop due to less spark, etc? If so, are there any serious consequences? I'd like to hold off for a while on the cap. purchase if possible.

Just don't want to kill the aaRRRRR or anything. :a:

Yeah, it will kill your alternator eventually. I had a new one put in years ago, before I worked on cars, and they wouldn't warranty it because the Audio system was installed.

Even a 1/2 farad will help a lot, the rating of 750 watts is like absolute peak power, chances are you are running way lower than that, and thus a 1 farad capacitor is overkill. But it's up to you. Just do it asap, and just don't go to full bumpage until you do, it's hard on your car in general. You will always have worse gas mileage with the system on, anything electrical puts strain on the alternator, and increase the drag on your engine...

I'm actually going with an SVR gel battery, it's like 800 cold cranking amps. I can get it for $90, so I won't need a capacitor, hopefully. I'm going to play it by ear.
