I haven't found a 6.5 coax speaker that is almost as bassy as a 6x9. No need for component in the back, thats doing too much, in my opinion. Get some decent 3 way 6x9's for the back and with the tweeter reflecting off the rear window, it will sound sweet. Especially once you amp them. And how could you "make a mess out of your car" by putting 6x9's in the rear?
didnt you say you had to cut the interior panels out to fit a 6X9? i know you do for a civic.

huh, ironic, 6th gen civics come with 6x9s already installed, but aftermarket 6x9s require you to cut the **** outta your interior panels cuz all aftermarket ovals are too tall. most everyone uses 6.5s and calls it a day.
