Default Need some help with stock HU...

Weird thing happened when I put the stock HU back in. I had a Kenwood Excellon 815 model and that crapped out on me. I plan on selling the car in 6-8 months so I said, screw it, let me return everything to stock. The stock HU has been out of the car since I bought it so it was in brand new condition. I go put in back and get nothing but static mixed in with the sound whether I'm using the radio or CD player. Other aftermarket headunits work so I know it's not the wiring. Also the the terminals are clean and I stored the headunit under my bed wrapped up in a t-shirt.

So what gives? Could it have crapped out on me because it hasn't been used in 4 years or will it fix itself after being on for awhile? Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Oh, I'm selling the Excellon 815 model for anyone interested. It needs to be sent to Kenwood for repair and they charge a $100 flat rate. I'll sell it for $100. I bought it for $479 brand new. What was I thinking.
