it seems that the HLCD setup would be very costly and hard to setup correctly.. seems like it's something that takes alot of previous knowledge before diving into it... like how anyone can slap on boltons but not everyone is gonna go into the engine and resleeve the cylinders and recalibrate the cams... is it really that complicated or am i just making it seem that way in my mind?

I highly recommend ID as far as a setup goes. An ID setup can be as complex as you make it. If you are looking for a top notch SQ setup for your vehicle or if you're looking to upgrade your existing setup, ID can really provide with alot of sonic pleasure.

From what I've read and heard 6x9's are for more of a fill effect.

Here's my two cents...with a properly setup front stage there's really no need for any type of rear fill speaker. The whole purpose of car audio is to reproduce a lifelike image in your vehicle. Think of it this way...when was the last time you went to a concert and the band was playing behind you? They play in front of you and the speakers face at you. Blah, blah, blah...invest in your front stage.

im running a front stage/sub on a single amp. im not exactly using high quality components and tuning, but i feel sitting in the front, there is no need at all for the rear fill. sitting in the rear is a different story, but im not sitting in the back of my car that often.

i personally havent ever heard anything from ID, other than the IDQ and the IDMAX. i have a 12" IDQ in a ported box with about 300 watts from a bridged fosgate 600a4.

i also had a pair of W3s getting 300watts each before i had the IDQ. the pair of W3s had a lot more SPL, because of it being 2x 12" drivers. but the single IDQ does more than satisfy my needs.

if only my car was able to power a IDMAX. h:

Skip the Boston front stage and run an ID chameleon component set. Whatever you do...skip the 6x9s all together.
