Default probs with new hu/changer

i just installed an alpine cdm 7863. I also have an alpine changer chas601. When I'm using the changer, both left speakers sound really strange, like they aren't getting the whole sound input. Anyone have any suggestions?

You say this only happens when u use the cd changer and not when using the tuner? hmm....I'd double check the data cables. Check if they're secured correctly. If everything seems in proper order, u might even want to look into trying a new set of data cables.

yea, it's just when using the changer. And by data cable are you talking about the cables from the changer to the head unit? When I installed it, i had to bend one of the prongs to get it to fit in the connector on the hu. Could that have messed it up?

Yea that is something that would rise good concern to me. Why would u need to bend one of the prongs to fit on the HU? If it's compatible, it should fit perfectly. If the prong really needs to be bent, i think u should remove the HU from the dash, turn on the cd changer and like when it's playing, push in the connector. Hopefully by pushing it in, the connection will be good and u could kno forsure if this is the problem. G' luck!

Your problem definitely lies within the data cable.

i think the prong bent when i pulled it out of the stock hu. i moved it like 1mm. I mean it's the right connector, and it fits perfect, it's not like i was ghetto rigging it or anything. So basically you guys think i just need to get a new cable?

I definitely think a new cable would solve your problem.

Well before you buy a new set of data cable, try to see if it is the cable first. You might want to break the bent prong out first so that when u connect it to the HU, everything's new and pushed in tightly.
