Ported boxes produce lower audible frequencies.But dude there is so much more to sound quality than ported and unported,bandpass or free-air.Way to much to get into,if you want a nice drop freq sound go with a ported box.Around here though no one ports with JL cuz they aren't made for it.And like Bake off said when you port,the speaker loses it's character.

I'm a fan of sealed boxes myself.

Really depends on your type of music.

For rap and stuff without tight bass. I'd say ported.

Anything with fasters beats of bass I'd say sealed.

Ported/bandpass boxes always tend to have sloopier bass.

Good sealed box is hard to beat.

I have 2 12 inch JL W3's in a ported box, absoultely slams when i want it too

I have the dual 10" version of the HO box. It knocks!
