Default 98 Accord Remote Entry Problem

I thought I had seen the threads of this problem before,
but I can't find it today. Then I post here to get help.

My 98 Accord EX sedan came with Honda remote entry system w/
two remotes. Both remotes are not working at all sometimes-
I can't unlock/lock the doors. I replaced the batteries, but it didn't
help. I should go to dealers to fix it?

If you have any kind of warranty on the car... have them take care of it.

When I bought a new 02 Civic EX, the remotes were missing. The dealership had to order me a new set. Instead of actually programming it, he told me how to do it. Here's how:

1. Place the key in the ignityion and turn it 2 clicks.
2. Press and hold the 'LOCK' button on both remotes for 5 seconds or so and then release.
3. Turn the key back to the off position.
4. Repeat step 2.
5. Repeat steps 1-4 for 4-5 times and the remotes should be programmed now.

If this doesn't work, then check in with the dealership. If it ends up being too much, then look into an aftermarktet remote/keyless system or an alarm (if you need it).

I re-programmed the remotes and replaced the remote batteries.
No luck. I still have same problem.
While I was searching with google.com, I found a guy had same problem and he fixed it by replacing actuator ($170).

$170 is about the same as an aftermarket keyless system and some cheapy alarm system with keyless... Its your call....

If you live in a cold climate, consider investing in a remote start/keyless entry system. I got a Viper remote start/keyless entry/quasi-alarm for like $350. Well worth it.
