Default Bridging(??) subs

My friend did this thing with my 2 subs where he hooked them together with one wire (I think it was positive to negative) and then took the remaining positive and negative and hooked them to the amp. My amp has 600 watts and he says this way it makes it so each sub gets 600 watts a piece. I don't see how this can work. Any help?

he wired them in Series. Which amp do you have? What subs do you have and what impedence are they? Oh and it's not the subs you bridge, it's the amp.

Yea make sure you check the specs of both your amp and subs before you attempt to bridge your amp. It's a very simple process to bridge them and most people do this. Just think of bridging a 2 channel amp as the same as a mono amp

wirring the subs in series raises the impedance. Say if your subs are 4 ohms a piece... wirring a pair in series will give an 8 ohm load... effectively cutting the amplifier power in half. An 8 ohm load is higher than car amplifiers are rated at... this will let the amp run much cooler and draw less power, but like I said, the subs are only getting half the amps output power.

What impedance are the subs?

If your amp on;y puts out 600 wattsx 1 each sub will get 300 watts if they are wired to match the impedece the amp puts out the 600 watts at.
