Default Alpine v-drive deck install, HELP PLEASE

i just got an ALPINE CDA-7893 deck and i'm alittle confused about the connection of the v-drive amp. i know that i need a direct connection to the battery but in the instruction manual its says to use a "extension battery lead (20a) sold separately." does anyone know what exactly this is. itsn't it just a power wire to the battery? any help would be great. thanks !!!

that thing they want you to buy is a power wire with a fuse in it... u dont NEED it...

you DO need a 10 or 12 gauge wire, fed from the battery, with a 20 amp fuse within 12 inches of the battery, to protect the wire... if a non-fused 10 gauge wire shorts out, its gonna get really hot and probably start a fire in your car. Fuse the wire at the battery as well.

no matter what, whether it's a head deck or an amp, always ALWAYS use the same size ground wire as power. Never bigger, never smaller....period.

you can use 10G for the power wire... and just use the ground wire that comes out of the harness..
It wont hurt anything to use a larger ground wire.

Not too sure about the clock problem... I'd have to look at it to diagnose that problem... never heard of anything like that.
