Default Entry level system help

I'm looking for an entry-level system. I went to my local Best Buy and here is what the guy suggested:

I wanted to use my stock CD player + changer. I drive a 2002 Accord EX-V6.

Pioneer TS-W254C 10" Subwoofer ($70 CDN + $50 CDN BOX)

Kenwood KAC-649S Amplifier ($179 CDN)

He also said I would have to buy some special wires and some transmitter thingy because of my stock player? Is this right? It was around $100.

Total came $470-500 with installation. All prices Canadian.

wow...total rip.

ok, an entry sub with box: $120
amp: $150
8guage sub wire kit: $30

install should be about $60-70 and hour. all USD.

one thing you might try to do is to get some other estimates.

$1 CAN = about $.60 USD

What I would suggest you do might not be that "liked" of an idea on this forum, but you should goto www.elitecaraudio.com , sign up for a membership and ask for suggestions within your budget. you will be able to spend the same money or even less for a much much better setup. you can learn lots on the site too. I love it, hence, my 1500+ posts.

Infinity Basslink... $400 usd from crutchfield... you can install it yourself! Trust me, its easy!

oh yeah... the basslink, if you dont know, is a 10" woofer and a 200 watt amp in a tiny enclosure less than a cubic foot in size. It has a 10" radiator (woofer with no motor structure) that acts like a port, augmenting bass output, but with no port noise.
