Default bass blockers

i want to know whats a good high pass cut off frequency? if low pass sub is 85hz and speakers are 5.25" using bass blockers. a friend of mine says that 300hz might be too high. thanks.

I couldn't tell you bro, the way I judge where to set my cutoff's is by listening to my system set at different points, then I tune based on what my ears tell me. I know you can't do that but that would be the best way. I would talk to a local installer if I were you, tell em your setup and see what they say, get a few opinions too!

if you can, tune the sub crossover up to 100hz... then get 100hz blockers... the extra 15hz will make a difference... allowing the small speakers to play louder with less worry of distortion.

If you leave a gap in there... (85hz on the sub, and 300hz for the speakers) you have a pretty wide range of frequencies that dont get played. If you overlap them (150hz for the sub, 100hz for the speakers, for example) you tend to muddy up the lower frequencies.

I have mine set at 70 hz with my polk 5 1/4 components. Any lower and it started to destort w/ power. My sub is actually crossed over lower than 70 to bring out the midbass and keep the bass to the lower freq. Each car is different and every speaker is different so you just have to try different things until you get the sound that you want.
