I want a new alternator for my 2001 Integra GSR. If I get the Swiss Audio gear I want, I am going to be pulling some major juice, and I dont think the stock 90A (or something) will cut it. In fact, it doesn't cut it now.

What am I looking at paying for like a 200A alternator, and what brand is good? I was thinking about Stinger.

I would try dominik over at termpro.com. He has a dual alternator setup for a GSR that pulls up to 300A of juice. But he can also rewind the factory unit to around 150-180A

Do I lose power (hp / tq) by adding a larger alternator or adding a second one?

Yeah I would just get the stock one rewound.

Bigger alternator = puts more stress on your engine.

 

Hmm... ok. I may get the factory one rewound, but I thought it would be too small to wind it to 180A. I'd like a 250A alt if I can but I may be calling Stinger on that one.

How much HP would one lose by putting in a larger alt? Or by stress do you mean potential for mechanical failure?
