Default mb quart 6.5 in accord doors?

has anyone gotten mb quart 6.5 woofers to fit in the doors of the 5th gen accords? specifically non Q series woofers from mb quarts in a 96 accord lx sedan? by fitting, i mean not MUCH modifcations needed. I know you can take out the plastic basket and cut the entire back of it out, but would that be enough? or would i have to ditch the entire basket and make my own baffle? even then..would that be deep enough to avoid hitting the window? thanks

well typically u measure the depth before buying the products, but in ur case, it's too late. hmm...well in order to take out the basket u need to remove the entire door panel. if u don't kno how to, check out MorningZ's site: MorningZ's homepage

Just remove the basket and put ur mb's face to face with basket and see if it fits. I'm pretty sure you're going to cut the backing of it. I just use the blade of a saw and cuz it out. It was pretty easy. Don't need to make it fancy. Just as long as it fits.

If you want to see if the mounting depth fits, just remove the basket and stick ur 6.5 in there. Have your windows down first. If it does hit the window, just go get some other brand. I kno Infinity 6.5 fit.

well actually i haven't bought em yet. i was hopin someone on here has installed the 6.5's in their doors. because i've been hearin mixed stories bout it fitting. This guy who went to a shop couldn't get the 6.5's to fit, so he had to get 5.25's. I dunno if the shop was incompetent...or if there were indeed unseen variables that we're not aware of. right now i have 5.25 ppi coaxials in my fronts, and i cut out the back of the baskets already, but from what i'm gettin, if i get mb quart 6.5's, they seem to be slightly oversized, so i will have to ditch the basket(now ring) altogether and make my own baffle.

Is it worth that much trouble to get 6.5's? or should i jus get 5.25's?

I have the DSD series 5.25" in my wife's SUV and they are nice and have decent midbass. They're getting 100 watts of clean PPI power from my PC4800.

I also had the PSC series 6.5" in my old Integra and those too were nice and had decent midbass being powered with 100 watts from an old school RF Punch 200ix.

The tweeters can get very bright on the MB's, so adjust the attenuation in the crossover accordingly before final placement (in case they are left in the interior side the door panel).

When I was younger, I really liked the MB's tweeters because they were ear piercing when I cranked them up.:naughty: But now, I'm taking a liking to my silk dome Rainbow tweeters....

hrm...i'm worried my current amp wouldn't allow the RSC 216 that i just bought to perform. I'm runnin a lightning audio s2.250 amp that's "rated" at 75x2. who knows how much it actually outputs

hopefully soon enough i can get a better quality amp.

Well Lightning Audio amps are made by Rockford and if it's rated at 75 watts per channel RMS then it should be legit power.... That should be fine with the RSC's...

i'm poor. just powering the mb's and eclipse (rears) with stock 20x4 and the eclipse are 75watts compared to mb's which are 60 watts. oh well, 20x4 is holding up "okay" :P
