Valentine 1.....very good but very expensive
Escort 8500...also very good, slightly cheaper at $300...

I own a V1. 
I bought it used from a member of another online forum for $325 shipped. It's very sensitive. However, I've yet to run into any radar traps at all.....
To me it's the BEST.
But some others like the Escort 8500.

I have a bel 980 and i like it....i bought it a while back and i think it's been replaced by the new vector 985. The passport 8500 is also pretty good...i heard the V1's aren't that great. A lot of people swear by them but they are kind of weak on Ka band detection...they are good on K and Laser but most the cops around here use superwide KA band these days.

very few false alarms, awesome distance
never had a ticket, better yet...ive never even been pulled over
its saved me enough to have paid for itself quite a few times.
